LAN cable termination color code

While making LAN connections we use patch cords that runs from wall socket I/O to NIC of PC. While making LAN cable, one has to follow the standard rules set by TIA/EIA. If you follow the standards to make LAN connections, it is easy for other technician to work on any existing setup of Network installation.

There are two methods to crimp the LAN cable using TIA/EIA structured cabling standards. They are 568A and 568B. Termination of LAN cable in the RJ45 jack requires some skill and it needs to follow the color code also.

The color code for making straight through cable is given below:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RJ 45 connector Pin No.----------------------------------568B Color code
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1------------------------------------------------------------------White/Orange
2------------------------------------------------------------------Orange
3------------------------------------------------------------------White/Green
4------------------------------------------------------------------Blue
5------------------------------------------------------------------White/Blue
6------------------------------------------------------------------Green
7------------------------------------------------------------------White/Brown
8------------------------------------------------------------------Brown
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please note that patch cable made by using both termination method (i.e. 568A and 568B) should work in any network installation site.
